What is pink chai?

Pink chai is a naturally pink-hued milk tea originating from the Himalayas - traditionally consumed in areas of Afghanistan, Kashmir and Pakistan. Each of these regions has its own version of this creamy, pink drink, but all share a similar, time-consuming cooking process. Depending on the region, it can be made with a combination of boiled green tea, spices, salt, sugar, milk and sometimes clotted cream. Some other names for this antioxidant-rich tea are Kashmiri chai, qaimaq chai, noon chai, sheer chai, or gulabi chai.

how is it different from regular chai?

While regular chai is typically made with black tea and is generally a quicker brewing process, pink chai is made with green tea, and traditionally boiled for longer to extract all of the tannins that give the tea it's unique flavor and color.

HOw is it pink?

The traditionally brewed pink chai that our grandmothers make gets its rich color from tannins and natural baking soda mingling together after much boiling and patience. Some people cool and aerate the tea base further for a deeper color. Our PinkDawn recipe is formulated for easy home preparation to save you hours over the stove - with its natural pink hue coming from organic, antioxidant-rich beet juice powder.

what are the benefits?

Aside from being addictively delicious, PinkDawn pink chai is rich in glow-boosting antioxidants like cinnamon and rose, contains 70 mg of gentle caffeine (with naturally occurring l-theanine), and contains a natural mood-boost for that glow from within.

what's in it?

Our proprietary blend includes green tea extract, oat milk powder, and our special blend of Silk Road spices. We don't add any sweeteners, so you can customize the flavor and sweetness to your liking.

Do I drink pink chai hot or iced?

Whatever you're in the mood for! We love an iced pink chai in the morning to start our day glowing and energized, or a hot pink chai in the afternoon as a comforting pick-me-up.
